This is a honey-based cocktail and the “sting” comes from the chili pepper that is infused into the syrup. The addition of citrus adds some acid and of course the vodka finishes it off. Print Recipe
½ cup honey
½ teaspoon chili flakes
¼ cup water
1 orange, juiced
2 lemons juiced
1 lime juiced
8 ounces vodka
4 stips lemon peel
Combine honey, chili flakes and water in a small sauce pot. Bring the honey syrup to a boil, remove the pan from heat and let the chili infuse for 15 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve.
In a small container, stir together all of the citrus juices.
For each cocktail, measure into a cocktail shaker with ice: 1½ ounces honey syrup, 2 ounces vodka, ½ ounce citrus juice; cover, shake well and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon peel.
